The only jerks are the ones who refuse to see things the way they are and carry grudges because they are powerless to change it to coincide with their reality. Let's face facts shall we? The premise of this show is contrived. That means it is staged and not exactly representative of what occurs in the "real world". To put that in plain English, there are VERY few of us that would date a person who was seeing 24 other people. There are very few of us that would want to have to earn the other person's affection every few days in some contrived ceremony that would give us the right to continue to pursue them. Factor in the glare of TV cameras and it gets all the more surreal.
Now because this show is about getting viewers "hooked" and keeping them there to boost ratings, gain advertisers, and hence make loads of $$$ for the network the game is rigged. That means if the Bachelor actually feels deep feelings for one person they are PROHIBITED from showing any favoritism lest it reveal prematurely to the audience whom they care for and end the need to stay tuned and decrease the revenue to the network. That means Andy had to play the part of being torn between two wonderful women and not knowing whom to pick. I say that he knew from early on who captured his imagination and his heart and it was NOT Bevin. She was too fake, too aggressive, too immature, and too needy. Forget that she was married previously, that she was from a different religious background, had numerous tattoos and was supposedly more "liberal" than he was. Andy choose Tessa because she was more real, more intelligent, more in touch with reality, and a woman of style, elegence and grace. Those who have not the eyes to see are doomed to remain blinded by truth.
